Use Cross Processing to enhance your photo's | LightRoom 4

It's probably one of the best ways to enhance your photographs. Fashion photographers use it. Portrait photographers use it. Cross Processing used to be a term associated with developing film in the wrong chemicals for different lengths of time. Now, many people use LightRoom to get a similar effect by using the split toning feature, applying one hue to the highlights of the image and another to the shadows.

Split Toning has made the image above much warmer and eye catching. The before image could still be classed as a well presented image, but it doesn't give the image anything to stand out.

It doesn't have to be as obvious either, I added it to these shots where it gives the image more clarity and appears much more appealing.

To get started, a warmer hue is usually used for the highlights and cooler for the shadows. You can also try out different combinations of colours to mix and experiment with.

I used a Hue of 81 with Saturation at 27 for the highlights and a Hue of 240, Saturation 39 for the shadows. You can see the image looks much more professional with this feature.

Tom and Lucy - Photoshoot

So I have a wedding coming up, and I thought I'd better get some practise as it's my first. We decided to photograph a couple from the band and had a good time and the results were pretty cool:

Light Trails

I randomly decided to try and create some cool Light Trails the other day and these are the results. They are alright for a first time round (in the middle of the night!). I just used a torch and span it round if you hadn't guessed already, but they do create some cool patterns. I still haven't got them perfectly symmetrical yet. Oh well ;).

I've been playing around with refractions for the past few months and have got some interesting results ;). They're pretty cool to do. Check out some 'real' ones on flickr (Jon Steele & Alan Jaras) that are much better than mine!

Photoshoot - Brick Wall

I while back I had a photoshoot and have now just finished editing the pictures. Here are the results ;) Hope you like them!

For the first set of shots I played around and found this pretty cool grungy style. I wouldn't normally go this extreme but I thought the colours in the shot accented well off of style ;-)

New Years Eve 2011/12

So on Saturday we got the chance to perform at one of our favourite venues for the New Year's Eve Party. It was pretty packed so the audience were a good laugh and seemed to have a good time. Unfortunately, this meant that I couldn't take many photo's, so I got Sarah to take some instead :-) We had a pretty good time! ;-) Check out our Facebook Fan Page if you like.
